An Introduction to the facilities of The Wingate Centre:

WELCOME!

All of our facilities and equipment are chosen following the recommendations of a Chartered Occupational Therapist and pass a National Care Standards inspection each year. The Centre specialises in catering for the needs of those with disabilities, and welcomes users from any group or organisation, especially :

  • Special Schools
  • Mainstream schools with a disabled class member wanting an accessible residential
  • PHAB groups
  • Social services - both children and adults
  • Charities providing holidays for children with diabilities and /or disadvantage

The centre is fully centrally heated and double glazed for year round comfort.
We can accommodate 45 guests over two floors.
Throughout the Centre we have an extensive range of disability equipment - Arjo Maxi Move, Arjo Minstrell and Arjo overhead tracking , Seahorse toilet and shower chairs, support rails to all hygiene facilities, changing tables, bath chairs and hoists, a wide assortment of seating for all needs including giant bean bags and 'Huggle' ergonomic chairs for the profoundly disabled.
Most beds are low level to comply with best practice for epileptics and the bedding is waterproof and breathable and conforms to NHS hygiene and fire standards.

THERE ARE TWO LIFTS TO THE FIRST FLOOR, ONE AT EACH END OF THE CORRIDOR

We have 'SNOEZELEN' sensory equipment in both the gymnasium and a leisure room.

There is also a meeting/activities room on this floor whch can be used as a classroom. It has whiteboards and multi-media facilities for both educational and leisure use.

Gym Session

There is a viewing gallery over-looking the gymnasium where you are welcome to watch the activities  

A session in the gymnasium with our coaching team is included in the price of most packages. It can be a formal gym session to achieve British Gymnastics awards or a fun session using our soft play and parachute games. Sessions must be booked before you arrive at the Centre. Additional sessions can also be booked. for a small cost..Please note that anyone using the gym will need to complete a medical form before they arrive. Any child or adult with Downs Syndrome will also need an AAI (Atlantoaxial instability) form completing and will not be allowed in the gym without this.

 A full week of gymnastics or trampolining training can also be organised for school gym clubs/ gym clubs, details on request.
